Foundation to add Ostlund as Director of Development

McPherson Co.  – The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) is pleased to announce Jim Ostlund as the new Director of Development. Ostlund is a current Campus Pastor at Journey Mennonite in McPherson, KS, a position he has held for 12 years.

The Director of Development will be focused on building and maintaining relationships with the communities of MCCF’s affiliates The Moundridge Community Foundation (MCF) and Inman Community Foundation (ICF).

“This position blends in with our DREAM plan to increase unrestricted funds for the county and communities in our area. Unrestricted funds help us identify community priorities and match them with funding.” Becky Goss, President and CEO of MCCF said, “We welcome Jim to the Foundation. He brings tremendous experience in working with community development and meeting the needs of residents.”

The role of Director of Development is new to MCCF and is the first position to fully focus on MCCF’s affiliate foundations. Both ICF and MCF have grown in administrative responsibility with ICF’s recent success of Match Week and MCF’s change to bi-monthly grant rounds.

Both Foundations were named as recipients of Match Week grants from the Patterson Family Foundation for their 2024 events, giving each a match of $70,000 to help participating organization endowments.

“I am very excited to work alongside the local leaders and foundation boards of Moundridge and Inman and maximize the potential impact of their match weeks this Fall.” Ostlund said.

While a native of Hesston, KS, Ostlund has deep roots in McPherson County with ties to many of the various communities. Ostlund graduated with a BA from Bethel College (’99) in North Newton, KS before becoming a youth pastor in Moundridge, KS. Continuing his education Ostlund received his master’s from Fuller Theological Seminary (’06) in Pasadena, CA, before continuing in pastoral ministry.

In 2012, Ostlund accepted the position as the McPherson Campus Pastor of Journey Mennonite Church, moving him, his wife (Jodi) and his two sons (Noah and Ethan) back to McPherson County. Ostlund will continue with his service with Journey alongside his work with MCCF.

“McPherson County is my home,” Ostlund said, “I am passionate about strengthening the wonderful communities we have here.”
