01 May Ketcherside 2012 grant recipients announced
The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) Board of Directors is pleased to announce $5,000 in grant funds have been awarded to area organizations from the Norene Ketcherside Endowment for Fine Arts.
The purpose of the grants is to fund McPherson County programs which provide an educational setting for students to develop and nurture skills in visual arts. Funds could be used for program costs or to contract with an artist or teacher to conduct educational sessions for students. This is the second for the grant program.
The 2012 recipients are:
Elyria Christian School – Expansion and development of the school’s art department by purchasing equipment and supplies for the pottery program.
Inman Recreation Commission – the summer art camp designed as a creative exploration for drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and jewelry for elementary students.
McPherson Family YMCA – the summer arts program for the YKIDS club to expose participate to a variety of visual art forms.
McPherson Recreation Commission – summer youth classes for K-9th grade to include art discovery, art exploration, art history, drawing, painting, digital photography, paper mache, unity design, graphic start, pen & ink, mosaics & concrete, and T-shirt tye dye.
VAAM Scholarship – High school seniors who plan to study art at a post-secondary school display portfolios at the annual McPherson County Art Exhibition and Scholarship Competition. The first place winner receives a $1000 scholarship.
