24 Oct David J. Nutt Fund Grants $30,000 to Viking Softball Field Project
McPherson, KS – The David J. Nutt Fund, administered by the McPherson County Community Foundation, has awarded a special grant of $30,000 to the Viking Softball Field Project. This project represents a collaborative effort between USD 400, the city of Lindsborg, and Bethany College, ensuring that the facility will benefit all organizations for years to come.
This funding includes an immediate grant of $10,000 toward the project’s fundraising goal, along with $20,000 earmarked for creating an endowment to cover future maintenance costs for the field.
The Viking Softball Field Project aims to restore the only softball-specific field in the city of Lindsborg. The field had fallen into disrepair over the years and was in desperate need of improvement.
The goal of the project is to raise just over $142,000 to cover the costs of the restoration. As part of the project, multiple components of the field have been replaced, including fences and sod. Earlier in October, over 300 volunteers helped lay sod for the entire outfield.
The project is set to be completed prior to the start of softball play in the spring.
