As the 2012 graduates begin the next phase of their continuing education, the McPherson County Community Foundation board of directors and staff would like to congratulate the scholarship winners from endowed funds administered by MCCF. The scholarship fund, amount received and recipients are:
Bob Hooper McPherson High School Basketball Scholarship is open to graduating seniors who have attended McPherson High School for four years. Applicants should have been members of the MHS Basketball team during at least part of their high school careers, but are not required to continue playing basketball when they enter college. One $500 scholarship was awarded.
Tanner Hein, Butler Community College
Jay L. Frazier Scholarship is awarded to a McPherson High School student who represents a strong character, involvement in activities and scholarship. An interest in science is preferred for qualified candidates. One $500 scholarship was awarded.
Sydney McClendon, Grinnell College
Kansas American Tooling Scholarship in memory of Kenton Gearhart, was established for candidates living within a 60-mile radius of McPherson, Kansas. Candidates must intend to work in the plastics industry as a production worker, machinist or toolmaker, engineer or technologist/technician, business manager, or teacher of metal working tradesman. One $750 scholarship was awarded.
Ernesto Cisneros, Wichita State University
Hanson Family Educational Foundation Scholarship is available to assist an individual in attending post-secondary public (tax supported) institutions. Students planning on attending Emporia State University will be given first in cases where all applicants have equal qualifications. On $500 scholarship was awarded.
James Renner, Kansas State University
Gary McNaul Memorial Scholarship is open to McPherson High School graduating seniors who participated on the men or women’s golf team and plan to further their education at the post-secondary level. One $750 scholarship was awarded.
Luke Reber, University of Kansas
Paul W. Davis Scholarship is open to graduating seniors attending McPherson High School and who plan to further their education at the post-secondary level. One $750 scholarship was awarded.
Tanner Hein, Butler County Community College
Lisa Waldhauer Educational Scholarship was established to assist students attending a vocational, technical, business, cosmetology school. Students attending two and four colleges or universities are also eligible to apply. Two $1,000 scholarships were awarded.
Grace Heidebrecht, Kansas State University
Anna Dillon, Kansas State University
Kyle Jefferson McMannis Memorial Scholarship is open to graduating seniors attending one of the following Kansas high schools: Canton/Galva High School, Northwest High School or St. John’s High School and who plan to further their education at the post-secondary level. Two $450 scholarships were awarded.
Saajan Bhakta, Wichita State University
Nicholas Vogts, Emporia State University
Raleigh Insurance Scholarship is open to Inman High School graduating seniors planning to pursue a degree in an agricultural or business related field. One $500 scholarship was awarded.
Daniel Kroeker, Kansas State University
First United Methodist Church Scholarship is available for graduating seniors who are active members of the First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Kansas, McPherson, Kansas. Two $750 scholarships were awarded.

Samantha Silver, Washburn University
