06 May Waldhauer grants
The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) Board of Directors is pleased to announce nearly $15,000 in grant funds will be distributed to educational projects through the Lisa Waldhauer Educational Fund.
The Lisa Waldhauer Memorial Fund provides a resource for educational enrichment opportunities to McPherson students. The Fund is administered by the McPherson County Community Foundation. Since the inception of the fund, over $43,000 in grants have been awarded to local schools and nonprofit organizations for educational programs.
Current grant awards include:
$2070 – McPherson Opera House for a special free summer showing of the Wichita Children’s Theatre production of “Billy Goats Gruff”.
$1000 – Moola Venture an educational program to teach middle school students how to plan and implement a household budget.
$1600 – Sponsorship of the Time of Discovery and Ropes Course sessions for the Irish and American teens participating in the 2012 Ulster Project.
$1000 – Sponsorship of the Camp Invention program. The week-long summer program for grades one through six program instills vital 21st century life skills such as problem-solving and teamwork through hands-on projects.
$2000 – Two $1000 scholarships for graduating seniors furthering their education at a post-secondary level.
The fund is also offering to match dollar for dollar contributions for the following programs.
Up to $5000 will be matched for the summer lunch program. Children participating in the program receive weekly deliveries of nutritional snacks and food. The program is administered by the McPherson County Community Foundation and the United Way of McPherson County.
Up to $2000 will be matched for the MHS Debate Club. Funds are to be used for travel expenses for team members to participate in regional and national competitions.
